Master thesis project available: Design of a new vacuum chamber

At the experiment "Assembly of ultracold polar molecules" we offer the project “Design of a new main vacuum chamber” as a Master's thesis.

In the project, the design of our current main chamber is to be adapted to the experimental requirements. Essentially, an improved concept for incorporating high-voltage electrodes into the vacuum is to be developed. The challenge here is that other electromagnetic fields which are also used in the experiment must not be affected by the chamber design. In addition, the accumulation of mirror charges should be avoided.

The work on the project will include the use of CAD software, simulation of electric fields and possibly small test setups. Previous knowledge in this area is helpful, but certainly not necessary. What you should have is the motivation to work on an independent project, the ability to acquire technical knowledge independently and a basic physical understanding of electromagnetic fields.
