A compact and transportable sum frequency setup for the QLEDS Project

In the QLEDS project two laser systems are needed for Doppler cooling and repumping of singly charged beryllium ions. These are based on three commercial fiber laser systems, each running either at 1050 nm or 1550 nm. Subsequent sum frequency generation (SFG) at 626 nm and frequency doubling to 313 nm will provide the required wavelengths for the ions in a 5T magnetic field. Topic of this thesis will be the characterization of the commercial fiber lasers and the design and characterization of a compact and transportable frequency generation setup for generating light at an intermediate wavelength of 626 nm.
