Research Assistant (PhD, m/f/d) in the field of Experimental Physics

(Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75 %) 

In course of the CRC TerraQ, the Institute of Quantum Optics invites applications for 2 positions of a Research Assistant (PhD, m/f/d) in the field of Experimental Physics (Salary Scale 13 TV-L, 75 %) starting as soon as possible. The positions are limited to 3 years.

Responsibilities and duties

The successful candidates will be responsible for the independent work on one of the following research projects:

  • A02 Gravity Sensing with VLBAI: Performing atomic BEC-gravimetry at unprecedented sensitivities using a 10m-long baseline
  • A03 Chip-Scale Quantum Sensors: Developing methods for chip-scale atom interferometry employing Bose-Einstein condensates

Employment conditions

To qualify for the position, applicants must hold a scientific university degree (Master, Diploma, or equivalent) in physics or any related field. In addition, very good knowledge in quantum optics and atomic & molecular physics is expected. We require very good written and spoken English, organisational skills, initiative, and the ability and willingness to familiarise oneself with new areas of work.
