Trapped Ion Physics and Ion Trap Production

The Trapped-Ion Quantum Engineering group is studying the physics of trapped ions in radiofrequency and Penning traps at the University of Hannover. The team is headed by Prof. Dr. Christian Ospelkaus.

We have labs at the Institute of Quantum Optics (IQO) in Hannover as well as at Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig. Experimental surface-electrode ion trap setups can be found in both locations. Our Penning trap setup is situated at the Laboratory of Nano and Quantum Engineering (LNQE), while our trap production effort is concentrated at PTB.
