Foreword

This is the third circular for the 20th International Conference on Laser Spectroscopy (ICOLS 2011), providing important information concerning travel and accommodations. ICOLS will be held May 30th - June 3rd, 2011 at the Schlosshotel Münchhausen (www.schlosshotel-muenchhausen.com). The hotel is located in the middle of a unique park landscape next to Hameln in the Weser Uplands near Hannover, Germany.

We invite all attendees and accompanying persons to a reception at the Schlosshotel Münchhausen on Sunday evening, May 29th, starting 4 p. m. till 8 p. m. Sandwiches and soft drinks will be provided. During the conference, the registration and information desk will be located in the lobby of the conference center named “Zehntscheune”. Sessions will start on Monday at 8.45 a. m. with a schedule of invited talks, poster sessions, excursions and social activities. The conference will end on Friday after lunch.

Following the usual tradition, the program will consist of single sessions of invited talks and high-profile poster sessions covering the latest developments in Laser Spectroscopy and related topics. Scheduling will allow significant time for informal discussions during coffee breaks, lunch and in the evening.

Meeting Format

The program will consist of about 32 invited oral presentations (daily single session format) and two evening poster sessions. Wednesday afternoon will be held free for informal discussions and recreational activities.

Written contributions from the invited speakers will be compiled and published in the conference proceedings, which will be distributed to all attendees.

Conference Fee

 

The registration fee is EURO 680 prior to April 14th, 2011 and EURO 780 thereafter. The fee will cover the cost of the technical conference, the proceedings, and

Tuesday: lunch, dinner, coffee breaks, soft drinks and beer during the poster session
Wednesday:lunch, coffee break

Mineral water and apple juice will be available throughout the days.

Venue

The Schlosshotel Münchhausen (www.schlosshotel-muenchhausen.com) is located in the middle of a unique park landscape next to Hameln in the Weser Uplands near Hannover, Germany. The Schlosshotel Münchhausen is reachable by car or by the shuttle bus, which will start at different hotels in Hameln (length of the trip about 30 minutes for those, who are not accommodated at Schlosshotel Münchhausen - see below).

Bus shuttles from the following hotels to the conference site are available from Monday to Friday. You will get the timetable during registration in your hotel (Hotel Mercure, Rattenfängerhotel Berke-ler Warte, Stadthotel Hameln, Hotel zur Krone, Hotel zur Börse, Hotel zur Post, Hotel Christinenhof)

Transportation

From the airport Hannover:

S 5 direction Paderborn or Bad Pyrmont to Hameln station (about 1 hour). It runs hourly (8.36 a. m., 9.36, 10.36, ...). Tickets are available at the ticket machine (costs: 13,90 € - please note: it is not possible to pay with credit card, only cash or EC-card).

Please note: Due to construction works the interurban train S 5 will not run between 12.36 pm and 4.36 pm from the airport to Hannover main station. A replacement service with buses from the airport to the Hannover main station is available. Look for the special announcement. Continue from Hannover main station with line S 5 direction Paderborn or Bad Pyrmont (platform 1) to Hameln station. Also for the bus buy the ticket at the ticket machine in the airport for the whole trip to Hameln.

We will provide a bus shuttle from Hameln station to the hotels mentioned on the website and the conference site on Sunday, May 29th, 2011, from 11.30 a. m. to 3 p. m.

On Friday, June 3rd, 2011, we will provide a shuttle from the conference site to Hameln station.

By train:

Arrived at Hannover main station then use S 5 direction Paderborn or Bad Pyrmont (platform 1) to Hameln station (about 45 minutes). It runs hourly (10.55 a. m., 11.55, 12.55 p. m., ...).

We will provide a bus shuttle from Hameln station to the hotels mentioned on the website and the conference site on Sunday, May 29th, 2011, from 11.30 a. m. to 3 p. m.

On Friday, June 3rd, 2011, we will provide a shuttle from the conference site to Hameln station.

Climate

Germany has a variable climate with frequent changes of weather from day to day. The character of individual summers and winters may also be very different from year to year, depending on whether oceanic or continental influences dominate. The temperature in June might be between 20 and 25 degrees C during daytime with occasional rain showers. During nights it can go down to 10 °C.
